Erkennungsmarke ( EKM ) “3./M.G.66”

A very nice early aluminium Erkennungsmarke from the 3rd Company of Maschinengewehr-Bataillon 66, established on 10 November 1938 in Wackernheim near Mainz.

Despite its designation, the battalion was equipped with 2 cm Flak guns and served as an anti-aircraft unit of the Heer. In 1939, it was associated with the 36. Infanterie-Division. During mobilisation, the 3rd Company was incorporated into Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 36 as its 4th Company.

The identification number 160 is clearly stamped on both halves, together with the blood group A.

The Erkennungsmarke remains in excellent condition, with sharp, clearly legible markings and only minor signs of age and handling. Complete and unbroken, with a blank reverse.
