Soviet Joseph Stalin Bronze Bust

An attractive and imposing bronze bust depicting Joseph Stalin in Soviet military uniform. Stalin is portrayed wearing decorated shoulder boards and a military tunic, with a single suspended decoration to the breast.

The bust is finely cast with particularly good detail to the facial features, hair, moustache, uniform and insignia. The reverse is clearly marked in Cyrillic “СТАЛИН” (STALIN).

The piece is of hollow-cast construction and has developed an attractive aged bronze patina, with areas of natural surface wear and some localized green oxidation consistent with a copper-based alloy. The underside remains open and shows the original casting and finishing characteristics.

Comparable examples of this model are known in approximately the same size and weight. Later castings of similar Stalin busts also exist, and in the absence of a dated foundry or artist's mark, the precise production date of this particular example cannot be established with certainty. It is therefore best described as a Soviet-style Stalin bronze bust of undetermined date, rather than assigning it a specific pre- or post-war date without further documentation.
