Nice Luftwaffe Air Gunner Cloth Badge (Fliegerschützenabzeichen ohne Blitzbündel), machine embroidered in light brown thread on blue-grey wool backing.
This version without lightning bolts was introduced in December 1941 and awarded to aircrew members serving as air gunners or flight mechanics who were not qualified as radio operators.
The badge shows the flying eagle within an oval oak leaf wreath, without the lightning bolts normally held in its claws.
The badge remains in very good condition, showing light signs of age and wear. A nice example of this less commonly encountered cloth badge.
