A beautiful early private purchase Wehrmacht Heer Infantry Officer's tunic, dating from 1937 and preserved in outstanding condition.
This superb quality tunic is manufactured from fine field-grey wool and features a dark green collar, elegant tailored construction, French cuffs and a fully lined interior. The excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail are typical of privately tailored officer's uniforms from the pre-war period.
The tunic is fitted with Infantry Officer's shoulder boards with white Waffenfarbe, matching officer's collar tabs and a beautiful hand-embroidered silver bullion breast eagle on a dark green backing.
A particularly attractive feature is the original bronze Crimea Shield (Krimschild 1941–1942), attached to the upper left sleeve. The tunic also retains an Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon in the buttonhole.
All insignia are original and period-applied, including the breast eagle, collar tabs and Crimea Shield.
Inside the inner pocket is the original tailor's label from Mohr & Speyer A.-G., bearing the presumed original owner's name, order number 444 and the handwritten date 24 June 1937.
This early date is particularly interesting, as the tunic was manufactured before the outbreak of the Second World War and subsequently continued in service, eventually receiving the Crimea Shield following the 1941–1942 campaign.
The tunic remains in excellent to near mint condition, retaining its beautiful original colour and shape. Only a few extremely tiny moth nips are present in one small area, barely noticeable and hardly affecting its overall appearance. The interior is also beautifully preserved, showing only minor signs of age and wear.
