A very rare and interesting privately tailored Officer's M44 Field Blouse, manufactured in field-grey wool and featuring the characteristic short-cut design of the late-war M44 pattern.
Unlike the standard issue M44 field blouse, this example features a number of privately tailored details, including a fully lined interior, finely finished internal pockets with button closures, and carefully constructed breast pockets.
The jacket retains its original buttons and shoulder board loops. The typical M44 waist construction is clearly visible on both the front and back of the tunic.
The breast eagle, collar insignia and shoulder boards have unfortunately been removed, but you can still see where the insignia were once applied.
The jacket is in worn condition, showing clear signs of extensive period use, including general wear, staining, some minor small holes, damage to the shoulder area and wear to the interior lining. Nevertheless, it remains a very attractive and characterful example.
Privately tailored M44 field blouses for officers are considerably harder to encounter than their standard issue counterparts, particularly examples displaying such distinctive construction details.
A scarce and highly interesting late-war Officer's M44 Field Blouse with plenty of character, with this being the only example i have ever seen!
