Wehrmacht Snowshoes (Schneereifen) – Near Mint
Category:
A beautiful and exceptionally well-preserved matching pair of Wehrmacht snowshoes (Schneereifen), manufactured by Hans Haselmeier of Bad Reichenhall and dated 1942.
These compact wooden snowshoes feature their original tightly woven rope netting and complete canvas foot bindings with metal fittings. Both examples remain in outstanding, virtually unused condition, showing only minimal signs of age and storage.
Both snowshoes are clearly manufacturer-marked Hans Haselmeier, Bad Reichenhall, 1942, and both retain matching rectangular Wehrmacht acceptance stamps on their canvas foot bindings.
Bad Reichenhall, situated in the Bavarian Alps, was an important centre for German mountain troops (Gebirgsjäger), making the manufacturer's location particularly interesting.
The wooden frames are beautifully preserved, while the rope netting and canvas bindings remain complete and in excellent condition.
Measurements: Approximately 41.5 × 21 cm each.
An exceptionally attractive and well-preserved pair of wartime snowshoes, seldom encountered in such remarkable condition. A wonderful addition to any Wehrmacht winter equipment or Gebirgsjäger collection.
