M31 Stahlhelm Liner – B.&C. Berlin 1941 – Size 66/58

Nice and well-used M31 Stahlhelm liner, manufactured by B.&C. (Biedermann & Czarnikow), Berlin and dated 1941.
The galvanized steel outer liner band is clearly maker and date marked “B.&C. BERLIN 1941” and additionally stamped “66 n.A./58”, indicating that the liner was intended for a size 66 helmet shell with a head size of 58 cm.
The brown leather liner retains its characteristic eight-finger construction with ventilation holes and still has its leather reinforcement discs and original-style drawstring in place. A faded 58 size marking can also be seen on one of the leather fingers.
The liner shows considerable genuine service wear and age, including surface wear, dryness, cracking and some damage to the leather, particularly around the upper edge. Nevertheless, it remains largely complete and has a very attractive untouched appearance. The steel components show corresponding age and wear, with remnants of the original finish still visible.
A desirable loose wartime M31 liner, especially useful for completing a suitable size 66 Stahlhelm where a correct 1941 B.&C. Berlin 66/58 liner is required.
