German State Forestry Service Forstmeister Shoulder Boards – 1942 Pattern
Category:
€ 50,00
A very attractive matching pair of German State Forestry Service (Staatsforstdienst) Forstmeister shoulder boards, of the 1942 pattern.
The boards are constructed from heavy dark green interwoven cord, mounted over a silver-coloured secondary underlay and backed with dark green velvet. Each shoulder board carries a single silver-coloured metal acorn (Eichel) rank device.
Within the 1942 Forestry rank system, the combination of the elaborate green braided construction, silver secondary underlay and one silver acorn corresponds with the rank of Forstmeister. The dark green velvet backing is associated with the State Forestry Service.
Length about 10cm
Both boards retain their characteristic button loops and form a nicely matching pair. The silver acorn devices show attractive age-related patina and some loss of finish. There is also some localized wear and fraying to the green cord, as clearly visible in the photographs, but overall the set remains in good and appealing condition.
A particularly decorative and increasingly difficult-to-find pair of Forestry rank insignia.
