HJ Musician’s Schwalbennester – Matching Pair with Original Wearer Photograph
Category:
€ 95,00
A very interesting matching pair of period Hitler Youth musician’s Schwalbennester (Swallow’s Nests), as worn on the shoulders by members of HJ musical formations.
The pieces are constructed from a red wool base with applied white woven vertical strips, together with a broad woven band running along the lower edge. Both are backed with period beige/brown cotton material and show clear traces of genuine wear and age.
What makes this set particularly attractive is the accompanying original period portrait photograph of the actual former wearer. The young HJ member can clearly be seen wearing this same type of red and white Schwalbennester on both shoulders. The photograph has remained together with the pair and provides excellent period provenance and a rare visual record of how these particular pieces were worn.
Both Schwalbennester remain together as a matching pair. They show honest age and wear, including some fraying, staining and a small hole to one piece, all consistent with their period use,
made especially desirable by the original photograph showing the former owner wearing the Schwalbennester themselves.
