Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge by G.H. Osang, Dresden – Exceptional Condition

A particularly attractive Luftwaffe Fallschirmschützenabzeichen (Paratrooper Badge) manufactured by the well-known firm G.H. Osang, Dresden.

This is a fine zinc (Feinzink) example featuring the characteristic two-piece construction with a separately applied diving eagle, secured to the wreath by two rivets. The reverse of the eagle is clearly maker marked “G.H. OSANG DRESDEN.”

The badge is preserved in exceptionally nice condition, especially impressive for a zinc example. The eagle retains a remarkable amount of its original gold finish, which remains strong across virtually the entire surface. The feathering, head and other raised details remain crisp and well defined.

Equally impressive is the wreath, which retains a substantial amount of its original darkened finish. The combination of the richly gilded eagle and dark wreath gives the badge excellent contrast and an appearance considerably stronger than normally encountered on surviving zinc Osang Paratrooper Badges.

The reverse is equipped with its original long round pin, barrel hinge and catch. Both rivets remain intact and tight, and the complete hardware is nicely preserved.

The badge weighs approximately 31 grams, fully consistent with known zinc examples manufactured by G.H. Osang.

Overall, an exceptionally well-preserved and highly attractive Osang Fallschirmschützenabzeichen, displaying an unusually high degree of original finish. A superb example that would be difficult to upgrade and an excellent addition to an advanced Luftwaffe or Fallschirmjäger collection.
