Nice example of a German Wehrmacht gasmask mask spanner (Maskenspanner), used for keeping the facepiece of a gasmask in its correct shape during storage.
The spanner is constructed from shaped aluminium supports combined with a blackened spring-steel wire frame. The spring-loaded construction provided tension inside the mask and helped prevent deformation of the facepiece.
The aluminium section is clearly stamped with an “H” and “38” within circles, indicating it's manufactured in 1938.
A nice and piece of German gasmask equipment, ideal for completing an M30 or M38 gasmask display.
In good used condition with normal traces of age and use.
