Wehrmacht Gebirgsjäger STUBAI Climbing Hammer – GJR 137 Regiment Marked
Category:
€ 200,00
A scarce original German Gebirgsjäger climbing hammer, manufactured by the renowned Austrian maker STUBAI, one of the best-known producers of mountaineering equipment during the pre-war and WWII period.
The hammer retains its original wooden handle, steel reinforcing side plates and original leather wrist strap. The forged steel head is clearly stamped with the desirable STUBAI maker's logo. It features the characteristic flat striking face for driving pitons into rock and the pointed pick for removing pitons and assisting during climbing operations.
A particularly desirable feature is the period handle marking "GJR 137", indicating issue or use by Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 137, a mountain infantry regiment of the 2nd Gebirgs-Division.
The hammer shows honest field use with an attractive untouched patina and remains in excellent overall condition. The wooden handle is solid, the steel head is tight, and the original leather wrist strap is still present.
A rare and desirable piece of original Gebirgsjäger mountain equipment
