Rare original climbing set consisting of a steel carabiner complete with six assorted forged pitons. Such sets were used by German Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Troops) and civilian alpinists for securing ropes during climbing and mountain operations. The pitons are of various patterns and sizes, each intended for different types of rock cracks and climbing conditions.
The set remains in very good, untouched condition with an attractive dark grey patina and honest signs of age and use. A rare and desirable display piece, perfect for completing a Gebirgsjäger or alpine equipment collection.
