This is a bronze commemorative medal of the German poet, philosopher, and playwright Friedrich Schiller (1759–1805).
The medal was issued in 1905 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Schiller's death. The obverse features a portrait of Schiller in profile facing left, with the text "SCHILLER" and the years "1759 1805".
Schiller was one of the most important figures in German literary history and is known for works such as Ode to Joy and the play Wilhelm Tell.
