A nice wartime canvas signal flare cartridge pouch intended for carrying cartridges for the German signal pistol (Leuchtpistole). Constructed from heavy field-grey canvas with leather closure straps, side D-rings and rear attachment loops for wear on the field equipment.
The interior retains its original configuration with 18 individual cartridge compartments currently filled with wooden filling
Unfortunately, no visible maker markings or date remain, which is not uncommon on heavily field-used examples.
The pouch shows attractive age and field wear throughout, with a beautiful untouched patina to both the canvas and leather fittings. The leather remains supple and the pouch displays very well, making it an excellent accessory for a signal pistol or communications-related display.
A scarce and increasingly difficult to find piece of German field equipment in honest, untouched condition.
