German BDM ( Bund Deutscher Mädel )Attributed Ski Outfit
Category:
A very interesting and uncommon complete German WWII-era ski/sports outfit, consisting of a short woolen jacket and matching high-waisted trousers, found together as a set.
The outfit is constructed from heavy dark wool, typical for cold-weather use, and features a practical and stylish cut associated with 1930s–1940s European ski and sportswear. The jacket is of a short, double-breasted design with angled zippered pockets, while the trousers are high-waisted with side button adjustments and tapered legs with ankle closures, intended for wear with boots.
The sleeve of the jacket displays a period-style armband associated with youth organizations of the era. The set is reportedly attributed to use by a member of the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) during outdoor or winter activities. As was common, members often wore privately purchased or civilian clothing for sports such as skiing, rather than standard-issued uniforms.
The garments show typical signs of age and wear consistent with wartime textiles. Overall, a rare and visually striking ensemble representing the intersection of civilian sportswear and youth organization use in WWII Germany.
The jacket has small repairs on both elbows.
