The cross is a nice zinc example, the cross lost most of its silver finish.
The cross is complete with a functional pin & catch. The cross is nicely maker marked with number '3' indicating production by the company of 'Wilhelm Deumer' from Lüdenscheid.

The AK39 (Armbandkompaß 39) was developed in 1939 for wear by pilots and aircrew personnel to calculating their position if forced to abandon their aircraft or in crash landing situations.
The AK39 was designed to be worn on the wrist, although it was often attached to other pieces of equipment.
