German Wound Badge in Gold (Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold L/54 )

An excellent original example of the 1939 pattern Wound Badge in Gold, awarded for three or more combat wounds or severe injury. This piece is made of gilded tombac and retains much of its original golden finish. The reverse is flat and fitted with its original pin, hinge, and catch.

Maker-marked “L/54” for Schauerte & Hohfeld, Lüdenscheid, a well-known wartime manufacturer. Overall in very good condition with minor wear to the gilding consistent with age.
