Original German WW2 Berlin Police Shako
This is the helmet that was a transition piece worn for a very short time by the police of the city of Berlin. Traditionally, the police officers of this city always wore black uniform trappings. This continued for a time, even though the rest of the nation's police went over to the green-felt-style shako. The Berlin officers continued to wear the black shako. This was until the leadership went from Göring to Himmler. After that, the Reichsführer-SS and Politzei insisted on national standardization and the green-felt shako was adopted, even in der Haupstadt (Berlin).
